History

The Stormtrackers Club was organized by season-ticket holders during the Hurricanes' first season in Carolina. The Club is modeled after the popular season ticket holders club for the Hartford Whalers, the Harpoon Club.  Canes Hall of Fame radio announcer Chuck Kaiton helped provide the inspiration for the Club. At a reception in the summer of 1997, Chuck was asked how serious hockey fans could help the Canes and the cause of hockey in the Triangle. Chuck suggested a club like the Harpoon Club. A short time later, the Stormtrackers Club was formed. We met at the Capital City Club before the PNC Arena was built.

Have you ever wanted to talk with an NHL referee or linesman?

The Stormtrackers do at one of our game-day meetings each season. For years, the officials have accepted our invitation to come and share with us their unique perspective on the rules, the players, life as an NHL official, and the many other topics we have asked them about.
